Oklahoma record label, Clerestory AV, is re-releasing our 2008 album, On Promenade, giving it its vinyl debut! The fabulous folks at Dallas’ own Hand Drawn Records have pressed this up for us.
This album was recorded between 2006 and 2007 at Ramble Creek Recording Studio in Austin, under the guiding lights of Britton Beisenherz. It was mastered by Jim Wilson, and for the re-release we had Jim re-master it for vinyl. Jim gave this lots of love, telling us that it was a special record… We are so glad to have this thing on vinyl… and it sure does look, sound, and feel great.
Release Date is set for April 17th.

And when it rains, it pours, and on the heels of “3356 Romeo” comes a split 7″ vinyl shared by me and Oklahoma City based artist, Beau Jennings (one side is me, and one is Beau). Put out by the Clerestory AV record label also based in OKC, I was excited to be a part of this series when Beau invited me, and glad to announce we are the 3rd in Clerestory’s longer series of split vinyls shared by superb songwriters.
My offering for this release is “First Son of Connecticut” which was my first version of a song that also resulted in a darker, heavier version, “Revolution Son Blues” which became part of 2015’s Pale White Dove. Jeff Ryan and I drove to Oklahoma City last Summer and spent a couple days tracking this tune at Stowaway Studio. We had a blast, and love what we walked away with.
Beau’s song – also tracked at Stowaway – “No One Can Destroy a Song”, picked up a Woody Guthrie songwriting competition award. CLICK HERE to see a video for his song.
You can stream both songs on this release, and place your order for the vinyl here: https://clerestoryav.bandcamp.com/album/okay-vinyl-series-vol-3

At long last, the new single from Velvet Blue Music, “3356 Romeo”. This single and the B-side, “You’re a Train,” was recorded at The Echo Lab in Denton, TX under the production/engineering helm of Matt Pence. Me and my band members, Dave Sims, Andy Melvin, Jeff Ryan, and Glen Farris, ventured out on our most pop-sounding musical endeavor yet. That’s just what this song seemed to be asking for. The format of this release is CD and digital.

Excited to announce “Country Girls In City Dresses” – the new single releases digitally on June 17th. A big thank you to KXT 91.7FM, for spinning this song for us. “Country Girls In City Dresses” was recorded as part of the Pale White Dove sessions at Ramble Creek Studio in Austin in 2015, originally intended to release as part of Pale White Dove. However, thematically it seemed too big a divergence from the rest of the Pale White Dove songs, so we decided it needed to be released separately. Our good friend, Kimberly Alexander of Dallas, TX gave us permission to use some of her lovely original artwork for our cover. And Claire Moralis of Denton, TX applied a hand-painted title. This release also contains a b-side original track titled, “Under the Mirror Ball”, never before released on a Doug Burr record. This track is a song I wrote years ago for my old band, The Lonelies, but this version was recorded in Denton at EchoLab in 2009.
